Establishment of successful corporate alliances requires experience, the ability to fully articulate the opportunity (in-depth understanding of the technology and familiarity with marketplace and industry trends), a network of appropriate contacts, the ability to get in front of key decision makers, and the appropriate coordination of science and scientific interactions with deal structure.
Due diligence and competitor analysis
Our due diligence and strategy refinement phase generates the basis for the initial approach to marketing the technology, service or product to potential partners. Typically, this process results in a preliminary list of interested parties and determines the best way to position the client’s offering with respect to the competition and the needs of the marketplace. This process is refined concomitantly with active marketing in response to feedback from potential partners.
Developing of marketing and support materials
At Herndon Co., we work with our clients to develop and refine an effective marketing presentation and supporting materials. These are based upon our extensive experience, specific knowledge of the clients offering, the competitive environment, and an understanding of the target customer’s familiarity with the technology or offering.
Business Development
Herndon Co. leverages its extensive network of senior level industry contacts to identify and introduce the client’s offering to the appropriate individuals within the company. We also work independently to establish additional key scientific and business connections by accompanying clients to industry meetings or attending on their behalf. If necessary, we work to arrange speaking opportunities at industry conferences.
Deal Structuring
We attend meetings and participate in conference calls with prospective partners to help insure the ultimate alignment of scientific objectives and corporate cultures with deal structure. We also work continuously to keep the deal process in tune with ongoing internal developments in the prospective partner company, and to guide the deal to the optimal decision makers.
We work with our clients to structure the transaction on terms that are conducive to their growth strategy and that provide an alliance framework that will support successful execution.
